Motability offers available in Bristol
The Motability Scheme was a notable advance in disabled rights. Since it was introduced in 1977, it has made it easier for over 4 million drivers suffering from severe physical impairments to gain the mobility and independence that comes with vehicle ownership. Ford was one of the original automotive manufacturers that helped to found the scheme, and today Thornbury Motors is pleased to offer a variety of Motability contract hire packages to customers in Bristol and throughout South Gloucestershire.
The scheme works by allowing recipients of the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement to put some or all of their state aid (plus an advance payment, in the case of more expensive vehicles) towards the repayments on a three-year contract hire agreement that gives them a brand-new car. The vehicles also have any necessary adaptations made free of charge, and come with insurance, servicing cover (including tyres and windscreens) and roadside assistance.
Eligibility
Whether you choose to drive or nominate a carer or family member, and you receive any of the following allowances with at least 12 months remaining you could qualify. These are:
Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC-DLA)
Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
We understand customers may feel that because their disability is not visible, the scheme may not apply to them. This is not the case, the scheme is fully inclusive, regardless of the type of disability.
